Little Rock AR-Laine Berry Selected as "Arkansas Community Hero"
Women's Heart Disease Educator Gets Top Honors


/Arkansas News Articles/ - Little Rock, AR, June 21, 2008 - Laine Berry has been selected by the American Heart Association as "Arkansas' Community Hero" for 2005 for her work on behalf of Women's Heart Disease Awareness. Berry has worked with the American Heart Association as a national spokesperson, and is currently serving as the state chairwoman for the "Go Red for Women" movement, which launched in 2003. Over her term with the American Heart Association Berry has given over 5000 volunteer hours to the organization.

"This is an incredible surprise, and such an honor", Berry said when told of her selection. Berry has been active in the fight against women's heart disease since she and her mother were diagnosed with different cardiac conditions in the same year. Berry adds, "Knowing you have a life threatening condition changes the way you view life. Each breath is precious, and the drive to make an impact is overwhelming".
